From writing to your local MP and donating to local charities, there are some easy ways to help refugees

Refugees and asylum seekers can face multiple challenges as they navigate their lives in the UK, but there are some ways you can offer support or help:

1. Volunteer

Organisations such as the Refugee Council take on volunteers who can participate in a rewarding experience by providing services including mental health support, day trips, and English language lessons.

2. Donate

Whether you donate goods or services, host a fundraising event, or pass on belongings, every pound can make a difference to the life of someone who may have lost a lot.

3. Accommodation Support

Charities and social enterprises provide practical support to resettle families in the UK. Housing Justice is one of many organisations looking for people who are willing to share their homes with refugees.

4. Campaign for Refugee Rights

Amplify the voices of refugees and fight for refugee rights by taking to the streets or writing to your local council or MP. Be a part of a wider movement that advocates to change laws around resettlement and help reunite separated families.

5. Welcome Refugees to Your Community

Make newcomers feel welcome by helping them adjust to their new neighbourhoods. Befriending and helping people to navigate public transport systems and more are all great ways to help someone rebuild their life. HostNation is one organisation connecting refugees with those wanting to befriend them.
